Surprise! Baby #2 Due in February

We are so excited to share that our family will be growing next year! We are aware that getting and staying pregnant isn't a given, and we are so grateful to be able to add another baby to our family.

It is surreal how similar, and yet how different this pregnancy feels in comparison to my pregnancy with Ellington. I was much more tired this time around, likely because I am running after a toddler most days. Every evening after my husband got home and could takeover, I found myself curled up on the couch exhausted. I also had nausea again. Movement made it worse, so I definitely had more episodes of nausea this time, but because I fully embraced eating all the pasta and cereal and bread, each episode was much more easily cured than last time around. It also lasted about 2-3 weeks longer than it did with Ellington.

And I have completely different cravings! The first trimester of Ellington's pregnancy was full of salty potato chips, and cravings for pizza and macaroni and cheese. This time around, my biggest cravings were strawberries and pasta carbonara.

In all, the first trimester flew by, and I have a feeling the rest of the pregnancy will too. I loved being pregnant with Ellington, and if possible, I love it this time around even more because I know what's waiting for me at the end!

We did have a scare at week 11 when I had a subchorionic hemorrhage. I thought for sure I was miscarrying, but after a night in the ER, we learned that the baby was fine and that hopefully my condition will resolve itself. After the initial shock, the hardest part has been not being able to lift Ellington per my doctor's instruction. My husband and parents have been taking care of him, usually outside of our home, so I am not able to spend as much time with him as I usually do. I really miss him and our days together!

However, I am so grateful to have this much support and it is nice to see Ellington thrive in routines without me. Seeing him have so much fun with everyone else has put my mind at ease a bit for how we will handle the postpartum period when baby #2 arrives.
