Ellington's Eats: Eleven Months Old

January 3, 2019

See previous posts for what Ellington ate at seven months and eight months.

Over the past couple months, Ellington's schedule and diet have gradually shifted into something much different than where he was at eight months! I have included the detailed schedule below, but the biggest changes have been:

  1. The first two bottles of the day are now combined into one right when he wakes up, so he no longer gets a bottle before his first nap of the day. I followed his lead on this one. He started sleeping through the night (12 hours) at eight months and at first, he still only wanted 3-4 ounces in the morning. But suddenly, he started crying when the bottle was over, so I started offering more!

  2. He now is offered two snacks/day.

  3. He now really knows how to use his straw cup so he is drinking a lot more water throughout the day. He drinks most of it with his meals, but the cup is also available in between meals and he has sips while playing.

Now for the details!

And that's it! I will share what his schedule is once we transition him off of breastmilk at age one. Before he was born, I had hoped to continue breastfeeding until he self-weaned, but we have decided that it is best for our family if I stop exclusively pumping as soon as we can transition him to another milk. I need the time (almost 3 hours/day!) to spend on myself and with my husband, and not hooked up to machine. And I am excited to no longer plan our outings around my pump schedule!
