Gheeful Nursery Reveal

As we wait for baby gheeful to make his arrival, I thought I would show you all the nursery!

When we set out to decorate the nursery, we had several things to consider:

  • Our home is 100 years old with plaster walls so we wanted to keep any installed things like shelving and wallpaper to a minimum (plaster doesn't hold up like drywall).

  • We plan to have more children, and if we don't move (we have a 2-bedroom), this room will eventually have a toddler and a baby and need to be moved around for that. For that reason and to allow the room to grow with baby #1, we wanted to have minimal furniture and let the room naturally grow and change with our babies.

  • We both wanted to buy the very minimal things we thought we would need for baby and add more things as he grows and we find out what he likes (hence, no bouncers, swings, lots of toys, etc.)

Dresser - antique; Curtains - Home Goods (old); Lamp - Cost Plus World Market; Changing Pad - Keekaroo Peanut Changer from Nordstrom; Basket - Target, Rhino Toy - Bitte Shop

Rather than buy a changing table, which has a limited purpose, I used my old dresser (empty thanks to a capsule wardrobe!) and we put the changing pad on top. The changing pad may be more for my husband than me, as I much prefer to change babies on the couch, bed, or floor - but we shall see! The top drawers are holding the tiny items such as bibs, socks, and hats. The next drawers are holding newborn and 0-3 month old clothes, 3-6 month clothes, and extra sheets, blankets and diapers.

Peg board - Container Store; Toys - Wild Creek Co. & Bitte Shop; Bag - old; Pacifier - Natursutten; Dollhouse - old; Knit Bonnet - handmade; Sling - Wildbird

Eventually, he will need more book storage, but for now we are using an old dollhouse from my childhood!

Crib - Babyletto Hudson 3-in-1 from Target; Mattress - Babyletto from Target; Sheet - Burt's Bees from Amazon; Throw - Connected Goods (old), Pillow - Handmade (mudcloth from monthly Alameda Antiques Fair if local), Mobile - handmade

Sign - Handmade

My family is actually pretty creative! My father built our wooden cosleeper you've seen on Instagram, my sister made the mobile, sign, and a couple rompers, and my mother made the pillow and knit blankets, hats, sweaters, and socks for baby gheeful!

Rocker - Wayfair; Lamp - Target; Side Table - Target; Airplane Toy - Bitte; Pillow - Target; Stuffed Animals - old

These windows look out over our beautiful trees and the backyard so I wanted to put the rocker here! We ordered an ottoman from Socco Designs but it is still on its way!

Rug - Target (old); Hamper - IKEA, Painting - Synthia Saint James

We are so excited to spend time with baby gheeful in this space and to watch it grow with him! I will also do a post on my favorite non-toxic baby items soon!
