We're having a baby! I have ALWAYS wanted to be a mom, and it is so surreal that it is finally happening!
And I am so excited to document this pregnancy on the blog because I am such a fertility, pregnancy and birth nerd and love reading others' experiences! So here goes:
How did you find out?
Unfortunately, my first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage just a couple months before, so this time around I didn't want to get my hopes up and just decided I probably wasn't pregnant. My husband was out of town and flying back in the next morning, so I decided to take the test so I could have some time to process my disappointment before he got home.
I woke up, took the test, left it on the counter, and went to put in laundry and start breakfast - that's how convinced I was that it would be negative. I came back, and the test said "PREGNANT." I was so confused. I searched for the "NOT" holding it at different angles wondering if it was there, but nope! I did a little happy dance, but then I got super nervous that I would miscarry again.
My husband got home, and I said "I took a pregnancy test and it says positive." I couldn't even say "I am pregnant" because I was just so unsure it was happening, or was something I could get attached to. My husband, understandably confused by my delivery of good news in such a somber tone, was happy, but reserved his excitement to help me deal. The next several weeks were difficult, but after hearing the heartbeat at 10 weeks and telling our parents, we started to get so much more EXCITED!
How far along are you?
12 weeks and 4 days
When are you due?
January 16, 2018
How was the first trimester? Did you get sick?
The first trimester was much more mentally and emotionally challenging than it was physically challenging. I wrote a week-by-week journal of the first trimester, and they will be up on the blog tomorrow! I will continue writing weekly posts, especially on how I am maintaining my health throughout this whole journey!
Are you going to find out the gender?
YES!! I am such a planner, and in fact, we already know - it's a BOY!
Thank you so much in advance for all the love and kindness! We are so thrilled that this season of life is upon us and can't wait for what is to come!
